Full To The Brim on Goals?

Did you ever attempt to set your goals (you know, all those things you desire in life) but gave up on your list because you were overwhelmed by having too many and didn’t know where to start? Well, you’re not on your own. The same thing happened to me! And even though I was able to follow Jim Rohn’s suggestion of jotting down 100 or more goals and then allocating a number to short term, middle term and long term, when it came to reading and visualizing them on a daily basis, I felt my focus was just too limited to be of any manifesting power.
So it got me thinking. And I decided that when tapping into my personal development and focusing on my goals on a daily basis, I needed to have more of a laser vision for this to work. Yes I wanted the wealth, the prosperity, to earn money from home on a daily basis (or even hourly!). And yes, I wanted the dream home, the new car and to travel to tons of exotic locations….. But come on Bec – laser vision!!
It was then that I realised having goals can be likened to a smörgåsbord. You know what it’s like when you go to a restaurant that has an ‘all you can eat’ buffet or smörgåsbord? There are all those fantastically delicious dishes and you just want something from each offering. In fact you’ve been here that many times before that you’ve got your food stacking ability down pat and are a dab hand at returning to your table without spilling a morsel!
But the thing is, although you have a small(ish) amount of each dish on your plate, you can’t enjoy its taste to the max because of the limited serving. And if you’re anything like me, when your plate is overflowing, you kinda loose your appetite and stop eating.
So I feel the best thing to do would be to go to the buffet each day and pick just one dish. For example, have a medium but good serving of the seafood so that you can taste it properly, really get to know it and fully appreciate it. And understand that you can return tomorrow and pick the chicken dish and fully enjoy that too.
By going full out on your smörgåsbord and getting as much on your dish as possible is a kind of poverty consciousness because you’re obviously piling up in fear that if you don’t get it all now there won’t be any more or you won’t have the opportunity to have it again.
It’s the same with our goals. Yes, write that long list of all those things you want to achieve in life, but choose just a couple to focus on with that laser beam ferocity. Do that on a daily basis and in no time at all you will find you’ve achieved those goals. Then press the reset button and focus on the next set of goals until you’re jumping up and down with joy because you’ve manifested those too!
