Direct Sales Tips: Build Rapport With A Personal Touch
With more and more people corresponding through e-mail, now is the time to differentiate your business by personalizing your contact with a simple and inexpensive postcard. There are so many reasons why you should send postcards regularly. They are affordable (whether homemade or purchased), inexpensive to send, fast to write and fun to receive!
Sending out the occasional postcard can you set apart from everyone else in the industry. Not only does it give you a chance to put your product in front of existing customers, it is also a great tool to build a deeper relationship with them. A thank you card for example is a lot more personal than an email with the same message. Give it a try and see if your sales don’t start going up.
Following are just a few reasons to add a personal touch by sending postcards to your customers:
1. To say thank you for their business.
2. To inform them of an upcoming sale or a special offer.
3. To invite them to a meeting, an open house, or to visit your website.
4. To set yourself apart from the crowd. When others are sending email, sending a postcard leaves a lasting impression.
5. To remind them you are here for the duration and want them as a customer for life.
6. To let them know about new and exciting products your company has just launched.
7. To let them know you reward generously for leads and referrals.
8. To locate a prior customer whose email address is no longer valid.
9. To demonstrate that you care about them as people as well as customers.
10. To keep your clients excited about doing business with YOU! Set a goal to send ten post cards a week by carrying a stack of blank, stamped postcards with you at all times.
Turn those moments waiting for an appointment or watching the kids at the park into productive, relationship-building time (by writing a few postcards each and every week) and watch your customer loyalty grow!

Great tips! In this electronic age, it’s definitely a nice touch to get a hand-written post card or a hand-written note just to say “hi”.

This is such an easy way to make an impact. I am a consultant with Paperly which offers beautiful personalized stationery. Technology has made things easy but less personal. A simple handwritten note is a true gesture of caring and sincerity!
