Sales MOMS:  Tell us a little bit about your background and why you decided to get started in Direct Sales.
Shermala:  I grew up in Kansas City and my husband and I moved to Denver a couple years ago. We have two boys, a dog, and a cat. When we relocated to Denver, I worked from home as a programmer for the same company I had worked for 15 years. I really started to miss the socialization I received from going into the office. I was home all day and night and wasn’t getting the opportunity to go out and make new friends. Moving to a new town is exciting, but I really needed a way to venture out and meet people. That is when I decided to do direct sales. I figured it was a great way to get out into the community and at the same time, earn some extra income for our family.

Sales MOMS:  What made you decide to choose JuJuBelle as the company you would represent?
Shermala:  I researched lots of direct sales companies prior to choosing JuJu Belle. I am not a salesperson or very outgoing, so I knew I needed a product that I loved and believed in. I needed a product that I was passionate about and would want for myself. I also wanted to find a fresh new company that not a lot of people had heard of. That way when I told people about it, they could get as excited as me. As much as I love jewelry and thought it was a good fit for me, I was concerned about the fact that there were several companies and people out there selling jewelry. But my mind was changed immediately when I found JuJu Belle. This jewelry company was unique with everything priced at $10 and under and the interactive aspect of “design and create” your own, I was intrigued to find out more. When I discovered they were based in Texas and there weren’t any consultants in Colorado, I joined one of their opportunity calls to get more information. The compensation plan looked wonderful and the more I read the more I was convinced this was the company for me.

Sales MOMS:  What have you found to be your biggest challenge in owning your own home business?
Shermala:  One of the biggest challenges I have found in having a home based business is growing so quickly. Once I started, I was still getting used to what I needed to do for organization, processes, etc., and before I could even get comfortable with that, my team started growing by leaps and bounds and I found myself faced with providing leadership and advice to others on things that were new to me as well. Luckily JuJu Belle offers all kinds of documents and training to their consultants on everything from the basics up to leading your own team. I also received lots of individual support from the owners and my up-line.

Sales MOMS:  What has been your biggest achievement?
Shermala:  My biggest challenge is also my biggest achievement. My team continues to grow rapidly. We haven’t even began to touch all the potential geographic areas. I am very pleased at how fast my team is growing. I take pride in making sure they all have the information, product, and marketing materials they need in order to be successful. I now have independent consultants on my team in five states and work to make sure they all feel part of the team and have all the tools they need to expand and grow.

Sales MOMS:  What advice would you give to those people who are considering a move into the direct sales industry?
Shermala:  My advice to anyone looking into direct sales is to do you research. Make sure the product is right for you. Make sure the company morals and ethics match yours. Read and compare everything before signing up. Be sure the product is something you are passionate about. Also, remember to stay positive and goal focused. It is easy to make excuse or put off tasks when no one is there pushing you to do it. So you must push yourself. The beauty of direct sales is that you can work your business as much or as little as you like. That flexibility is wonderful, but just be sure you also remember you will get back what you put in.

Sales MOMS:  What is a typical day for you when you are working your business?
Shermala:  My typical day with JuJu is very flexible. That is why I love it so much. I can work my business as I wish and around my family schedule. I have a list of items I do weekly basis and I have just make sure to do those as I have time. Those tasks include ordering, updating my Facebook page, and answering emails from my team.

Sales MOMS:  Tell us a little bit about your goals for 2012.
Shermala:  My goals for 2012 are mainly focused towards growth, organization, and team building. I want to make sure I am sharing the opportunity with everyone. I have a goal to schedule at least three events or parties each month. I have been working on templates and documents for our team to share. These include welcome letters, birthday box templates, calculation templates, calculation spreadsheets, etc. I also will hold quarterly meetings with my team this year. I created our own private Facebook group so we can discuss things and share our success.
